Bookbinding

I visited an artist friend of mine a while ago; she lives in an artist's residence where previously lived a guy who made marbled papers for bookbinding. He was a supplier for one of Sweden's largest publishers (I don't know how long ago this was). Anyway, she had lots of these marbled papers lying around and gave me a bunch of them. They're so lovely!

Here is a new book I made using one of the papers.

It is a collection of Flight of the Heron fic written up until this fall. Now I can reread these stories in book form! \o/ And as new stories are being written, I suppose I’ll be able to make another book eventually... : )

That is beautiful! The "sage" color* spine matches the marble scheme. (is that color also "sage" in Swedish?)

Thanks! This bookcloth color is indeed named "sage" at the place where I bought it. : ) The plant sage is called salvia in Swedish, but we don't use that as a color name. The leaves of the plant do really have that color, though!

We call it salvia in Italian too. Now I wonder if it's Latin, originally. Will look it up.

Oh, that's gorgeous! It looks just like the sort of obscure, beautifully-made old book I'd stumble across in a library and get lost in reading. And what a good idea to collect the fic in a fandom in book form :D

Glad you like it! I've felt a bit as though I've been getting stuck in a groove (stuck in a rut? but it hasn't been a bad place) with my bookbinding, so it was great to be able to try something new.

And I think this is only possible in very small fandoms. : )

Thanks! : D It does definitely have some flaws (slightly too little cloth in the hinges, one of the endpapers was glued on a little asymmetrically, and the covers should have been slightly wider). But perhaps this is annoying only to me...
