What did Bob Fraser look like as a young man?

I may possibly be procrastinating from writing my Bob, Buck and Caroline story by googling for images of a young Gordon Pinsent. There really isn't much out there--or possibly I don't have enough google-fu. Still, I thought I'd share what I found. There's this one, where he looks kind of serious and dark-haired and not particularly Bob-like (he's the one in the middle). Date unknown, but it looks like the 60's or 70's. And there's these two, where he's outdoors and unshaven. *squints* Yeah, I can see it. Those are from 1969, when he was 39 years old.

Also, he apparently played a Mountie on a children's TV series from the 60's called "The Forest Rangers". You can see him in uniform if you scroll down to the bottom of this page.

Huh, I wish there was something from the 50's. I mean, I do picture Bob as being a few years younger than Gordon Pinsent. Fraser was born in 1960, I think, and I've always imagined that Bob was younger than 30 when Fraser was born.

Omg, that last one. I think I exploded into hearts. That I believe was Bob Fraser. <333

Ack, trying to get into the habit of commenting on DW, but I keep bouncing back and forth between the two places.

So I comment in both places for now. Um...yay? I'm working on it, I promise.

I really like the photos from 1969. I've always thought he was a handsome older guy, but I really see his good looks in these younger pictures. It's not hard to see Bob or someone pretty enough to father Benton Fraser in there. Very nice.

It's rather weird to look at photos of him younger than Paul was in the final year of Due South.

Oh noes, I wish I still had my copy of Gordon Pinsent's autobiography to send to you. I gave it away to someone about three years ago, after failing to read more than the first chapter. There were some young-ish photos in there, plus some stories that might have been fun inspiration. He's actually quite an interesting guy. He wrote this autobiography years before he was on Due South. I didn't know till I started looking that he is a playwright. The book was completely charming, but I somehow failed to get engrossed.

Zomg, in the first of the outdoor pictures? Tell me he doesn't look like Shatner.

I think you're right about the age thing. In the pilot, Bob looked younger than 68 to me. I always imagined that Bob and Caroline married rather young.

Btw, baybee, I did get the postcard you sent me, which was a lovely surprise in my mailbox. I'm quite the lazybones, not thanking you until now.
