Write Every Day: Day 1
In December, I am hosting Write Every Day. What is this, you ask?
What is the Write Every Day challenge?
Write Every Day is just what its name says: We challenge each other to write, every single day. Our goal is to encourage one another and provide the accountability and/or motivation that some of us find very useful in keeping the words flowing. However, there's no obligation and no pressure, and if writing didn't happen for you on any given day, there won't be any judgement, just support and sympathy!
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome, regardless of whether you have participated before!
What do I have to do?
I’ll post each day and keep a running tally of participants. All you need to do is drop by the comments on the most recent entry to let us know how you’re doing. Please know that you are never obligated to check in. Also, if you'd like to comment on someone else's comment but aren't checking in for yourself, that's perfectly fine too. We're really easygoing 'round here, and conversation is absolutely encouraged.
Is there a word limit or quota?
Nope. Write as little as an “alibi” sentence (just what it sounds like—a sentence you write to say you’ve written, an alibi for the day, as it were) or as much as you’d like. All word counts are welcome!
Is there any restriction on the kind of writing I can do?
No! Fanfiction, original fiction, screenplays, DW posts, meta, academic writing, reviews, editing, letter-writing, nonsense poems: If you can write it, you can count it!
Do I have to participate all the time?
No! You can come and go at your pleasure.
I will (usually) be posting in the morning European time. If you don't say otherwise, I will assume that you meant to check in for the same date as the post. If you want to check in for another date, please say so. And please always use the last post for checking in, even if it's for past dates.
Alright, go forth and write! And come check in afterwards. : ) Optional question: do you have any goals for the month?

My goal for December is to break 150K for the year. Since I am beginning the month at just under 142K, I don't think that should be too difficult.
Today, Day 1, I added 520 words to the novel "outline" (which is, in several places, really a zero draft).

That sounds like both a pleasing and a realistic goal! I think I've been averaging about 150K a year since 2020, since I got into my current fandom.

Goals... ummm, to work some more on the werewolf fic I started last month, and hopefully write something for
Dec 1st - 939 words, a challenge ficlet and editing on a couple of fics, one of which has been posted. The other one needs a better ending and coming up with one was taking too long.

Day 1: ~1k of new prose, and another ~800 additional words as I edited another fic.

Day 1: I've got two active WIPs going right now, and I managed 444 words on one, and 1,336 on the other.

I have ridiculous goals, including treats for
1st: lots of edits, and finally sent the-story-I-was-going-on-about-last-month back to beta. \o/
2nd: 313 words of flashfic, written and posted for the last November round.

Day 1: Wrote 400 words on Yuletide Treat #2, which is a meandering mess of a thing.

Goal: make actual progress on a contracted novel. :/ Mostly the difficulty is health.
Day 1: ...I wrote 600 words of fanfic instead. I may have to drop fanfic-writing in favor of the contracted linguistics sci-fantasy, sadly.

But meanwhile, I am here to congratulate you on writing, whatever it is! : )

Goals -- maintain the fan flashworks streak, write some Yuletide drabbles, figure out what I am doing for the Silmarillion Writer's Guild Nov-Dec challenge.

My main goal for the month is to keep working on a few essays I'm struggling with, but also to have fun and write a bunch of drabbles and flash fiction (maybe post something to
Day 1: A bit over 800 words. Some of that was a bunch of frustrated whining that I had to get out of the way before getting down to work on the actual essay. But at least it worked. ;-)

Hee, I'm glad the frustrated whining worked to get you going.

After my extraordinary writing November (I finished NaNo with 80k and wrote far more than I ever did before) I plan to take it easy for a while. For the first time in over a decade I don't have any deadlines looming, assignments coming or mod duties schedulded, and my goals are mainly having fun, working at my larger fannish and original projects (haven't yet decided if at one in particular or just generally fiddling around, doing research and working at the basics), and finishing at least one of my smaller WIPs. I also plan to cut back my writing time a bit after several months of intense writing, to make room for the odd needlecraft projec for Christmas. *g*
