I want to do right, but not right now

I got back from my dogsledding trip yesterday, and it was so completely awesome. *happy sigh*

Now, I've just had teaching for four hours, and I've kind of got a cold, and in a couple of hours I'm leaving again for a conference this weekend where I'm a speaker and I have not properly prepared my talk yet. Arrgh. I get the feeling I'm not the only one swamped by RL, either.

What I feel like doing is staying home to spend time with my boyfriend, read all the new fic that's come out, do some writing of my own, and go out to look at the spring flowers. Arrgh again.

Is anyone available to beta-read my dogsledding essay for ds_workshop sometime towards the end of next week? I just want someone to check the language, and to see if there's some obvious question I'm not answering. I'll probably be all right if noone offers, though--I'm not as worried about this as I would be about a story.

Oh, thank you, that's great!

And yay for completing your taxes. I'm kind of boggled that you have to do that by yourself--here they're paid in automatically by your employer, and you don't have to do much about it.

Some of our taxes are paid automatically by our employers, but we have to pay taxes on e.g. investment income, and my husband's self-employed so it gets complicated! Fortunately, our state taxes were easily done online once I'd hacked my way through the federal stuff.

Hmm, yes. I guess it's complicated here if you're self-employed, too...
