luzula: a Luzula pilosa, or hairy wood-rush (Default)
The Watch, by Dennis Danvers
This is an SF time travel book with Peter Kropotkin as the main character. Obviously I had to read it! Unfortunately it didn't quite live up to my high expectations. I dunno, there's nothing wrong with it, exactly--it's a perfectly okay book about time travel and anarchism. My problem is that I'm very familiar with Kropotkin's prose style--I mean, I've spent hours and hours recording an audiobook of his autobiography. And this book is in first person, but definitely not in Kropotkin's style of writing, so I never really felt that it was the same person. Ah well.

Dagar i tystnadens historia by Merethe Lindström (originally in Norwegian, read in Swedish)
For my book club at work. It's about an elderly couple who can't break through the silence between them. It was okay, I guess? Although a bit too depressing for me.

Oh, and also! I wrote something yesterday! I'd been feeling like I hadn't written anything in forever, which objectively isn't true, but my life has been so filled up with other stuff lately (mostly work and environmental activism) that I felt like I'd been losing touch with writing. But I had an idea for my C6DVD and started writing it, and I got into that lovely frame of mind where you are just delighted at what is coming out of your fingertips. Yay, writing joy. ♥
