For my book club at work. I liked this a lot! It's set in early-20th-century northern Sweden, and is about a tight-knit village and how it can include or exclude people. Also about how good people can excuse themselves for not doing the right thing. The writing is warm and vivid, and heavy on the dialect (I wonder how it was translated).

Excellent, excellent dog writing. Uh, and the other parts were very good, too. Especially compared to the latest McKinley book that I read (Shadows), which was so much more chatty and the plot never really went anywhere.
