rachelmanija's requests, but then I got assigned someone else. So of course I asked her to beta for me, and she did. Thank you! : ) I guess I am fairly happy with the result? It won't end up on my list of favorite works of mine, but it's a story that I wrote for a multi-fannish exchange that isn't Yuletide, and that was one of my goals this year, so I'm happy about that. I'm not that used to writing original fic, and the few I've written before have been ones that came to me very strongly. This one didn't, and I had to cast around a bit to find the setting. It finally clicked when I connected it with the mountains in the Dire Straits' song "Brothers In Arms". Also the story somewhat unfortunately got tangled up in some RL feelings and I couldn't make it requited. Ah well.
