I am just back från the national congress of the Swedish syndicalist union, which happens every three years. I was one of the five delegates from my local branch. I am now so tired that I've almost come out on the other side of tiredness and am floating in a kind of zombie state of awareness. Twelve hours a day of intense meeting procedures and other related stuff can do that to you. Plus lack of sleep from lying awake at night processing what happened during the day.
As a whole, I am satisfied. Not that I am happy with every decision made, and there was an episode where some unnecessary accusations were made, but the tone was good overall. Which is apparently an improvement over the last congress (I wasn't there). I was chosen to be on the so-called decharge committee, where people turn in accusations of bad conduct from the last three years so that a neutral third party (the committee) can investigate it and recommend a course of action for the congress to take. This was a lot of work, but interesting. There were two accusations. On one of them, the congress agreed on our statement of criticism (with a minor change). On the other, we managed to write such a diplomatically worded statement that both parties involved in the conflict agreed to it. \o/ That did involve diving into some old email exchanges which made me want to wash them from my mind afterward though, since they were full of unpleasant internal conflict between two groups of people. Anyway, multiple people told us we did well.
Also, I sang two songs (my Swedish translations of "Bread and Roses" and "Power in a Union"). One person told me my singing was amazing and gave him goosebumps, which is certainly an ego boost. *g* On the train home all of us from Gothenburg sat together and had some beer, and I just felt warm and fuzzy and wanted to hug everybody.
Okay, now I'm going to bed. I hope I can get some sleep.
