Environmental stuff

Arrrrrrghh. I am so angry and sad right now about an environmental conflict going on in Sweden. There's an area called Ojnare that's planned to become a national park, and that's also important for the water supply, but there's a company planning to make a quarry there. The conflict has been going on for years, but it's come to a head now. The company does have permission (which it only got by lobbying the government to change an environmental law paragraph), but there's an appeal to the Supreme Court which might change things.
Only, they're cutting the forest NOW, despite lots of people there to protest. They're using the police like their fucking private army to keep people from getting close to the harvesting machines. Seriously, there are seventy police there. It's like, "ha ha, we're going to destroy this area just because we can, even though we might not get permission to make the quarry later!" I have friends who are protesting, and I'd be there if didn't have teaching every day. And it's not like I'm not doing anything--I've been translating press releases to English and sending them out, for example--but I still feel so frustrated and angry.
You can sign a petition against it if you want.
