luzula1) Just spent the whole weekend in a board meeting with the environmental NGO where I am treasurer. I organized the practical details and also spent some time on preparing a proper agenda and meeting procedures and so on, and I think it was worth it, but whew, now I'm tired. There was a bit of a clash of meeting cultures--I prefer a fairly structured meeting environment whereas other people want to be able to speak freely without speaker lists and so on. Cool thing we have recently done: helped a Russian group get 20,000 hectares of old-growth forest protected by pressuring the Swedish-owned company that wanted to log it! Woohoo! To clarify: the Russian group did basically all of the work for it, and then they just asked us to help scare the company. *g*

pod_aware fest is my happy place right now--I've been listening to all the awesome meta podcasts. I'll make my own when I'm less busy.
3) Anyone want to beta the first 20 minutes or so of a podfic ofcatwalksalone's How the Ray Was Won? I pondered at first how to post this without andeincascade seeing, but then I realized that this is for a charity auction, not a birthday! She already knows I'm doing it. So, Ande, you are welcome to volunteer yourself if you want.
Anyway: I'm looking for feedback on characterization, not technical aspects. For whatever reason, I find it hard to read Vecchio. I went back to watch an episode to get a feel for the way he talks, and it's really quite distinctive, but it's hard to do. I feel like I nailed it in a couple of dialogue lines, but other times I feel like he's not distinct enough from the way I read Kowalski. This is difficult especially in quick exchanges without dialogue tags--suddenly I get why people complain about lack of dialogue tags. This has never been a problem for me with Fraser and Kowalski, because their voices are so distinct for me. Good news: I feel like I get Frannie's voice now, which I was also having trouble with before.
