As I said yesterday, I've been doing a lot of teaching and lecturing lately. I have one more week of that, then it lets up (and I get to do the graaaaading instead, but anyway). It appears that I'm going to be unemployed after January. My research money has run out, and there's not enough teaching in the spring to go around. This is not a problem financially--I'm hopefully working in the mountains this summer again, and I am assured that I can get teaching in the fall, if I haven't found anything else in the meantime. And I'm applying to other jobs, too (augh, job applications suck).

But in the meantime, I go on the dole. Which means that I will have more time for other things--it's not like I have a problem with coming up with things to do. *g* And I plan to get a driving licence, too (boring, but probably useful).

This also means that I can spend several weeks in the US when I go over for Bitching Party. \o/ [personal profile] podfic_lover and I are planning to take a roadtrip south along the West Coast, visiting national parks and fangirls (I get to meet [personal profile] malnpudl! Yay!). So, if you want to hang out with us in Seattle after BP and before we leave on the roadtrip, let us know! And if you live on the way down and would like a visit, or if you want to come with us for a bit, let us know about that, too. : )

Oh my goodness, I was just hit by a wave of instantenous envy! :D And then by a sudden doubt that I can spell instantenous (?), hah.

Take lots of pictures on your roadtrip, ok? :)

Hey, I've lived in Seattle for about 20 years, and I'd love to be your Seattle tour guide if you have a need! I love to hike and have a couple of kayaks and bikes, so that's also an option. I wish I could offer you a place to stay, but my husband and I have a very small house. However, just let me know when you'll be around and I'll see if I can swing some time off work-wise (I'm saving my vacation for a road trip to Glacier Nat. Park and Canada in August-September....)

Also- if anyone else wants to visit me before/after the main event, I would be THRILLED! I'm really too busy and unfortunately way, way too broke to go anywhere (I haven't been as far as Seattle since May) but am open for guests.

Julia, reinforcing the message that, yes, please come, we can go look at the terrestrial bryophytes at Mima Mounds!
