First off, some statistics (yeah, I love statistics):
I wrote more non-due South fic this year than last year, and like last year, it's all in tiny fandoms and is mostly litfic (big TV and movie and RPF fandoms are obviously not for me). Also, it seems that my non-due South fic is much more focused on female characters than my due South fic is. Huh.
My best story(ies) of this year: Going by feedback, it's my 2011 Yuletide story The End and the Way. I was overwhelmed by all the thoughtful comments on it, and I was especially intrigued that the comment/kudos ratio is so high. Obviously it made people want to give me detailed feedback instead of just "I enjoyed this!", and I was overjoyed by that. And I do think that it's a good story! I still feel all glowy and accomplished when I think of it. And people said I wrote like Le Guin! OMG.
My favourite story of this year: The End and the Way is very close to my heart. I feel like I got to know and love the main character so well. The post-CotW ghost story To Hold Fast is one of my favorites, too--I like that the romance is in one way very understated, and in another way it's at the heart of the story. I'm also very fond of the femslash story The Hills of Iowa, which is basically original fic, and I liked the way the characters in it came alive for me. Oh, and You Won't Do This Alone is another of my favorites--it's Bob and Buck after Caroline is gone. Okay, I better stop now before I list every story I wrote. *g*
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I was a little disappointed that the recipient of The Hills of Iowa, which was a New Year's Resolution story, never responded to it. Ah well, I wrote it mostly for myself anyway.
Most fun story to write: Maybe The Difficulties of Inter-Species Communication? It's a light and funny story, and those always feel like a gift to me, because my default seems to be serious narrative. Fly-by was fun, too--I thought to myself: which pairing is the least likely to attract wingfic? It must be Fraser/Smithbauer! And then I went ahead and wrote it.
Sexiest story: After Hours, I think. My longer Fraser/Thatcher story Slow Burn actually has more sex, but I think the more restrained one is hotter, as sometimes happens.
Story with the single sexiest moment: The snippet Attention has some really hot moments, I think.
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Er, nothing, I think?
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: If I don't count stories with original characters, I think it may be You Won't Do This Alone, which is written in Buck POV. I've never written in his POV before, and it surprised me how easily I could do it. I'm very fond of that story.
Hardest story to write: Evaluations (the Paperwork Remix), which was my entry for Remix Redux. I have no idea why this story should have been so hard to write, but it felt like pulling teeth. I like it fine on re-reading, though.
Biggest Disappointment: I have a feeling I should have had a less serious case for Push and Pull. I mean, there's a lot going on between Fraser and Ray in that story--the case is just a side plot, and I'm not sure I handled the serious issues in the case well (the case is about illegal immigrants being exploited for labor). I'm happy with the other aspects of the story, though; it was fun to try to subvert the soulbond cliché.
Biggest Surprise: My 2011 Yuletide story The End and the Way! It ate my brain.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story: I don't know? I do put a lot of myself in my stories, but not always in obvious ways.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? About what I'd hoped (but I wouldn't have dared to predict it).
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2011? See biggest surprise.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? Yuletide was a risk, of course, but I feel like it paid off! I think I've learned that I'm more capable of writing outside my main fandom than I thought I was. Remix Redux was also something I signed up for to challenge myself.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year? I have lots of WIP:s and story ideas that I hope to write! Mostly in due South, but also some in rare fandoms (Sleeping Beauty in space!). I also want to do some more translations into Swedish.
I'd like to thank the academy... I'm very grateful to all the smart and generous people who did beta-reading or first-reading on the stories I finished this year (in no particular order, and I hope I'm not forgetting anyone):

First off, some statistics (yeah, I love statistics):
- Total writing output: 69,900 words (30 stories). This is about the same as last year's wordcount of around 68,300 words and 29 stories, but slightly misleading since last year's Yuletide and dSSS stories are included as well as this year's.
- Of the wordcount, 43% is slash, 38% is gen, 12% is het, 7% is femslash (but if you look at the stories, 12 are slash, 11 are gen, 5.5 are het, and 2.5 are femslash). Nine different pairings are represented.
- Of the wordcount in the due South stories, 60% is written in Fraser POV, 18% in Thatcher POV, 10% in Buck POV, 7% in Ray K POV (leaving 5% for other people).
- 35% of the wordcount (6 of the stories) are in fandoms that are not due South (six different fandoms, in fact).
- 43% of the wordcount (12.5 of the stories) is written from the POV of a female character. 35% of the wordcount is in stories that pass the Bechdel test (8 stories).
- Four of the stories are long-term WIP:s that I worked on systematically to finish, the rest were written fairly quickly and spontaneously.
I wrote more non-due South fic this year than last year, and like last year, it's all in tiny fandoms and is mostly litfic (big TV and movie and RPF fandoms are obviously not for me). Also, it seems that my non-due South fic is much more focused on female characters than my due South fic is. Huh.
