They are all confused by the snow, but bravely venturing out into it nevertheless! In the background you can see the polytunnel we built in November. The ducks are now living in it, to give them protection from the weather and to provide the tunnel with manure.

Here they are eating breakfast. We are giving them at least twice as much food as usual, because 1) they can't forage now, and 2) they seem to need the extra food in the cold, which is no wonder. Awww, they are the BEST DUCKS! <3

Elsa the white one is now camouflaged, whereas she usually stands out! (Yes, she is named by a five-year-old girl after the Disney character.)

Those are some lovely ducks! So many different colors, too! What breed(s) are they?

Domesticated breeds usually are more colorful than their wild relatives! Most of them are runner ducks, but we also have one cayuga and (probably) one Swedish breed "svensk gul anka".

Yay for bestest ducks and the perfect duck joke! This is a lovely winter scene, too.

Three of them have experienced winter before, but nine of them were born this year and haven't! So this really is their first experience of snow.
