Right, I've crossed off a couple of major things on my to-do list (not that it's empty now, oh no), so I figured I should get to writing again. I've written nothing except my C6DVD assignment since the holiday exchanges, and I think I needed that break, because wow, I wrote like crazy then.

But! It's time to write again. I have never during my years on this journal done a poll, so I figured it's time to try one.

These are my current WIP:s/ideas for longer stories. Anything you'd like to read in particular?

due South fic

The Victoria Metcalf gen story about what happens after Victoria's Secret. I've already written 7000 words of this, although it needs revising.

The Fraser/Kowalski story where Fraser is asexual.

The modern-day due South/Temeraire fusion (this is all [personal profile] mergatrude's fault). I have a couple of worldbuilding issues with this, but also some cool ideas.

The historical AU where Fraser and Kowalski are both on Amundsen's Northwest Passage expedition. This would be written all in journal form (Fraser's, obviously).

The story of Fraser's first posting. I have a lot of this outlined in my head, but it's set in a smaller and more isolated community than Inuvik, and I'm not sure how to write that community. Research, research.

A folk ballad fic called "The Prince and the Sea-Wife", based on a Swedish medieval ballad called "Herr Olof och Havsfrun".

The "Sleeping Beauty in Space" fic. I have a couple of thousand words of this written already.

I did not tick them all, though I was tempted. :-)

I think the Amundsen one sounds particularly fascinating. I read an intetesting article about Amundsen and another expeditioner spending some months alone together in a "Canadian shack" - it was effectively about how people manage living in "capsule environments." I can look up the article for you, if you like?

I will have a hunt for it when I'm in the office on Monday. I suspect it's in an archive box of fic printouts, as once I wanted to write a story about Fraser and RayK trapped in an igloo or some such, and was interested in the psychology of it. If I remember correctly, the author(s) were drawing parallels between polar exploration and the International Space Station. *g*
