I'm back on the internets! I'd intended to accomplish all sorts of useful RL stuff during this week, but what happened was that I went skiing, spent time with my dad, read fic, and wrote fic. My Fraser-is-asexual fic is now over 10,000 words, which means that it's probably going to end up the second longest fic I've ever written. I am running into trouble with the casefic aspect, though, as usual.

I am pondering Remix Redux. Any other due South people signing up?

Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy trip!

Fulufjället is one of Sweden's southernmost mountains. It's really flat on top, with forested sides.

Map lichen (Rhizocarpon sp) on red sandstone. This kind of rock is pretty unusual for the Swedish mountain range.

Me! On the branch above me, there's a yellow tuft of lichen which is the endangered species Letharia vulpina.

More endangered lichens! This one is Lobaria scrobiculata.

Sweden's highest waterfall, Njupeskär, with dog for comparison.

Um, yeah. This is what happened when you combined freshly fallen snow + above freezing temperatures + Welsh springer spaniel. We had to turn back, because he could hardly walk with all that snow stuck to him. A sled dog he is not.

Oh, awesome pics! That waterfall is stunning!

I have never actually done Remix. I love reading them, but I'm afraid of having NO IDEA how to do a good one? I don't know, it's both appealing and scary at the same time. OTOH, I totally have too much on my plate to be signing up for (more) challenges.

I'm completely intrigued by your asexual Fraser story, btw. Can't wait to see it!

Wheee! I know that wallowing in your Fraser-asexual fic will be delightful. The lichens are wonderful, and that poor springer spaniel -- did you have to pour warm water on her? Cut off the snowballs? Feed her chilli?

Oh, lovely pics! Poor dog, though; he has the wrong kind of coat, doesn't he.

I was wondering if the lichens are endangered due to global warming (as species that only live above the snowline here are, eg the mountain pygmy possum), or is it mostly destruction of habitat?

I'm also interested in your asexual Fraser fic. Well, to be honest, I'm interested in everything you write. *g*

Hee! Look at you, beaming like an elf.

I like lichens. They're remarkably pretty, but they're so quiet and discreet, they often get overlooked.

Oh dear, poor pup! I think he likes the snow... but not that much. ;)

Beautiful pics and lovely lichen! Although I feel sorry for the poor dog :-( Mind you, I bet he would have pined if you'd left him at home...

Nifty pictures! And also, poor puppy! It looks like a good trip, though.
