That's interesting about Frannie and poly relationships--that was my assumption about Ray K in this story, actually (for example: Stella saying she didn't feel like she was enough for him). Hmm, I can't off the top of my head think of any poly fic with Frannie in it? Do you know of any? (Somewhat relatedly, I realized that I couldn't think of any F/F/M threesome fics in due South, or F/F/F for that matter.)
Huh, I didn't think of that, that they all had failed relationships behind them. That's interesting. Of course, at the age they're at, I suppose most people do (though not necessarily such spectacular failures as some of theirs).
