This and that

luzula1) The storm Simone (or St Jude, which is the British name) is coming in over the Swedish west coast tonight, with potentially hurricane-strength winds. Am going home early from work to avoid being caught out in it. I hope you people in Britain are okay!
2) My three-months-old laptop crashed, and I had to restore it to factory settings. Luckily I had almost everything backed up and only lost 400 words of Yuletide draft and some music I'd downloaded (and my Firefox tabs), but there's still the hassle of re-installing and customizing everything. /o\ I also really dislike how Windows 8 has made it much harder to boot from an external OS on USB or CD, by something which is called "Secure Boot".
3) Just noticed that my posts don't seem to have been cross-posted to LJ for a couple of weeks; no idea why. If you only read me on LJ, checkluzula for missed posts. ETA: This one did not cross-post, either. Anyone know what's up with that?
