Life yay + podfic rec

I had a really nice evening yesterday! I'd meant to do stuff on my to-do list, but then someone lit a fire and I ended up reading before the open fireplace for most of the evening with a cat in my lap. Win. And then later five of my housemates were sitting around in the kitchen at the same time, and everything was nice and relaxed and social and there was newly-baked gingerbread. \o/

Also, I've posted a Sherlock Holmes rec over at podfic_love.

I'm having trouble with my voice, so it was more an experimental thing, but it's on the archive if you wanna give me any concrit or anything. :)

I liked it a lot! : ) Right at the beginning, the way you read some jerk from way up in the food-chain turned up at the station, wanting to look at Ray’s files from a three-year old case really brings out Ray's frame of mind for me. It's all sarcastic Ray. *g*

The volume is really low. Are you using Audacity to edit? In the effects menu there's an option for "amplify" that you can use to bring up the volume. Then again, it's possible that the crackles you're getting on the plosives are already maxing out the volume, so that you can't amplify. Hmm. You could check out the sections on sound quality on that podficcing tutorial I wrote a while ago and see if there's anything there to help.

Anyway, yay! \o/ I totally encourage you to make moar podfics. <3

Yeah, I tried to fool with the volume, but couldn't get it to work. I thought there must also be a way just to reduce the amplitude of the plosives, but maybe not? I will look at the tutorial, thanks! I don't know if I will do more, but maybe.

Editing when I made a mistake, and splicing the bits together was tough! Keeping track of what was where was confusing, mostly. Also, the train kept going by and my mike is only very basic. *g*

Editing gets a lot easier with practice! And yeah, I get the train going by a lot where I live now, too. I live 100 meters from the main railroad between the two largest cities in Sweden. /o\
