General update

Sorry for the lack of fannish content lately, you guys! Er, the current content seems to be booklogging and politics and a bit of RL. But I am actually writing, if a bit less of it--I've got 7000 words on my due South Big Bang science fiction story, so that's going well. I am having so much fun with the worldbuilding! Also podfic_lover and I are going to try podficcing cesperanza's famously un-podficcable fic Scrabble, so wish us luck with that, ha ha.

In RL news, I have graaaaaading.

In two weeks I will leave for my usual field work in the mountains! Only for two weeks this year, though--I wish it was longer. And I won't be alone up there, so I won't be able to do my usual hermit act. Here's hoping the other people are nice, anyway.

Also, this weekend I will be one of the instructors on a course on bryophytes as used in forest inventories, and the other instructor is, like, Sweden's foremost authority on bryophytes. OMG, I am all starstruck. What if I totally suck and don't know enough? *hides under the bed*

Hee, well, I have never met SFAoB before. : ) Both of us were asked to do it by the person who's organizing the course. But by reputation, he is a very nice person, so probably I'm worrying unnecessarily. Or I guess what I'm actually worrying about is the people on the course, because I have no idea what level of knowledge they are on.

Scrabble is the title, not the fandom. : )

I think you will like it when it's done! Of course, soon I will run into the problem of writing actual plot instead of worldbuilding travelogue, and my writing will probably slow down...

OMG! How did I ever miss that fic. (Perhaps I opened it, was deafeated by the format, and never tried again.) Mmmm, that will be interesting to pod.

"Worldbuilding travelogue" is a lovely idea. And in fact really great tours do just that. One of my favorites was twice around the central part of Chicago on an elevated trainway (the Loop). The guide introduced us to the idea of doubled "ground level" architecture, the financing system for those tall buildings (made possible by advances in elevator technology) and so forth.

Well, our preliminary plans are to offer several different versions:
- one with just Fraser's POV
- one with just Kowalski's POV
- one with alternating POV:s
- one with the POV's on separate channels, so that Fraser's POV is in one ear and Kowalski's in the other.

Thanks! Well, I guess I haven't posted much about it? It's closer to original fic than my previous Big Bangs, I guess, and it's fun to think through all the worldbuilding aspects of it.
