New Year's Bingo

It's posting day over here, obviously. : ) Anyway, some of my housemates are doing something called New Year's Bingo, where you make a bingo card with 25 things to do in the new year, and then cross things off during the year. It seemed a fun thing to do, so I'm going to try it! Here are mine:

- be on radio or TV [this is related my environmental work; I'm aiming to do a bit more media stuff]
- finish last year's dS big bang story
- make a new friend
- write a scientific article together with Senior Scientist Guy from my summer mountain work
- bike to work regularly
- work out/lift weights at least once a week
- be active in my local syndicalist union throughout the year
- harmonize ten new songs with my sister
- invite the Danish fen to Göteborg for a meet-up
- record four podcasts [again, for my environmental work]
- read 52 books
- sleep 20 nights outside/in a tent
- write a debate article [again, for my environmental work]
- go swimming in ten new lakes/places by the sea
- go to an activity/meeting at a political organization I've been planning to check out
- give away X amount of money to organizations/poor friends [er, sorry, I feel weird writing out the amount]
- spend a night up in a tree
- work in the mountains again
- do salary negotiations with my union [insert boring explanation about Swedish labor practices]
- record at least three hours of podfic
- try using a sextant to determine the latitude
- see ten new species of vascular plants in Sweden
- find a new home
- go hiking/be outdoors every week

My aim is to not include things that I know for sure I'll be doing anyway, but to have things that will feel like a little bit of an achievement if I do them. And also to have fun things on there, too, not just serious stuff. You will notice that I have four slots left. Any ideas? : )

I'm tagging this "meme", since it's a RL meme, apparently, and it would be cool if it caught on here, too.

I have used a sextant! It is not easy!

I like this idea. Maybe I'll write up a list myself. Making a new friend sounds like a good aim. I keep telling myself to do at least one day of local trailwork, but I've only done that once, some years ago. This year I should make it a goal.

I want to use a sextant partly because of reading Patrick O'Brian, but also because I've read a bit about the mathematics of navigation.

I should probably specify that I want to make a new local friend, to get more of a social circle where I live.

Actually, today I met the guy who's marking and taking care of the hiking trails where I live! Apparently he's doing it all on his own and on his own time. I told him I really appreciated his work, because I use those trails a lot.

Hopefully I will get to cross things off! : ) I like the idea of it being a bingo, because if you just make one promise, then if you break that, you just shrug and give up. This way you can do some of the stuff and not others.

Yay! I put it on the list because I was meaning to do it last year, but then it just never happened. Maybe we should do it May or early June? I'll put up a post on dk_fen in a while...
