Away over the weekend + some fannish stuff
Jun. 5th, 2009 11:42 amI am going birdwatching with some friends on a remote island, so no internet until Sunday evening. There will be electricity there, and I'm still pondering whether to bring my laptop--I could get some writing done, maybe. I signed up for
ficfinishing again (you should, too!) and this month I'll work on my Fraser/Kowalski/Smithbauer story. I have the sex scene worked out in my mind already in detail. : )
In other news, I'm almost done with Post Captain. Jack and Stephen are really sweet together, but I don't feel the urge to get them to have sex. I'll read it if I happen to find it and it's well written, but otherwise, I like them as they are in canon.
I'm also watching Twitch City with my boyfriend, we both find it very entertaining. I'm wishing there was more Newbie, though--we've seen four or five episodes so far, and he's hardly turned up. : (
Oh, and also: if you haven't read Like Cats and Dogs, by
mikes_grrl, you really should. I was put off at first because it was posted in 18 little sections on her LJ, but the link above goes to an archived version. Anyway, it's a really good F/K/V story, and I enjoyed every page of it.
ETA: Someone in the lunch room was reading the Kama Sutra, and I just have to share this. There was a long list of Things A Woman Should Study, and besides the stuff you would've guessed, like cooking, etiquette, applying make-up, making flower arrangements, etc, there was also for example martial arts, carpentry, and knowledge of mines and quarries. Also the "art of obtaining possession of the property of others by means of mantras or incantations". Hee.
For now, please comment at the LJ entry.
