luzula: a Luzula pilosa, or hairy wood-rush (Default)
Title: Five Times Simon Tam Left Serenity (and then came back)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ana_grrl
Reader: [personal profile] luzula
Fandom: Firefly gen
Rating: PG
Length: 8 m 21 s
Summary: See title, I suppose.
Notes: Recorded for [livejournal.com profile] podremix, original recording by [livejournal.com profile] sly_hostetter. I didn't actually listen to the original podfic before recording it. I figured that I could always re-record it after I listened if I wanted to, but I couldn't un-listen to the original podfic if I changed my mind. As it turned out, I didn't have any new brilliant ideas after listening to the original podfic (which I enjoyed a lot, btw), so I went with my first recording. There's one thing in the original which was pretty cool and that I didn't think of doing, which is having two voices speaking simultaneously when two characters say the same thing at the same time. Thanks to the author for letting me record it!

And a bonus remix!

Title: A Natural History of the Watch
Author: [personal profile] gloss
Reader: [personal profile] luzula
Fandom: Wilby Wonderful/Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Pairing: Duck/various
Rating: R, perhaps?
Length: 20 m 55 s
Summary: Duck can't imagine doing it in a bed.
Notes: I was kind of hoping I'd be assigned [personal profile] malnpudl to remix, because I love both this story and her reading of it. It's probably the podfic I've listened to the most times. I'd never thought of reading it myself before [livejournal.com profile] podremix, but now I got the idea in my head, and did it while I was waiting on author permission for my actual assignment. It was a pleasure to read. Thanks to the author for letting me record it!

1) Augh, I suck at my job. I faff around on the internet instead of proving theorems. /o\ The reason I suck is that I have no one to work with atm (the awesome woman I worked with this spring is on parental leave, and the senior researcher in my group is never here). In the absence of other people, I apparently have no motivation to do math. The biology fieldwork I got to do earlier this week was great, though. Maybe I'm in the wrong line of work. *sigh*

2) I won three auctions at [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan, and will get a podfic, a fannish postcard/letter, and a story! Awesome. And I feel good about having put my podficcing skills up for auction, as well.

3) I got a prize for being one of the winners of [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon! The prize is a reading by [livejournal.com profile] kinseyx of my story Home Schooling (Fraser family gen, G). You can check out the podfic over here. I always love hearing my own works read by someone else--it's like it adds a layer of interpretation so that I can hear it from another angle. And I think I'm not that good at reading my own stories, for some reason. Even stories that I genuinely love and feel proud of can feel awkward in my mouth. I wonder why.

4) Writing 10,000 words of Bob/Caroline seems to have given me a tiny crush on young Bob Fraser. Ahem.
