Recent reading + Christmas
Dec. 24th, 2015 06:30 pmI am very full of Christmas food. Why did I eat so much? *groans* Am taking a little break from Christmas now to retreat with my computer; better write up these books now before the inundation of Yuletide. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it!
Fair Winds and Homeward Sail by Sherwood Smith
Published fanfic for Austen's Persuasion. I really enjoyed this--basically it tells Sophy Croft's story from her teens to the end of Persuasion. Well-written and engaging, and I feel like Sophy is the kind of person who would be a good friend.
The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer (audiobook)
A+ entertainment! I think this went up on second place among the four Heyers I've read (Cotillion still being in first place). Although it was a bit confusing that I ended up simultaneously reading/listening to two stories set in the 19th century with a main character named Sophy. Very different Sophys, too. This one is quite entertaining, though I am glad she is not in my life.
