Happy May Day!

Wonderful sunny weather. Me and my sister successfully performed my translation of Bread and Roses in front of the crowd! And lots of people came up to me afterward and said they liked it. \o/ On the downside, the march dawdled so much on the way that my sister missed her train afterwards, but hey, it was worth it. Sadly I don't have a recording, but I'll make one some other time--I was really happy with the arrangement that I made.

I ended up with no less than three harmonies! I originally made one which a friend told me was too elaborate and with too much syncopation (even if it does soar up beautifully at the end). Then I made a second harmony which is simple and lies below the song, which we used for the first two verses, to let people listen to the melody and the text. And then I made a third harmony which is also fairly simple but lies above the melody, to have some progression in verse three. Then in the fourth verse we let loose with the complicated one soaring up at the end.

Will record and put it up next time I see my sister!
