Christmas!
Dec. 25th, 2008 09:52 pmI had a great Christmas! It was the first year I celebrated away from my family. My parents are in New Zealand for three months, and my sister was with her boyfriend's family. Instead, I was with my best friend and her parents and sister, who lived in the house next door to mine when I was growing up. I've always called them my "extra family".
The sister (Maria) was hugely, impossibly pregnant, and in the night between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, she went into labor. Her last name means "master of labor" in Swedish, which the midwife found hilarious. Apparently she made puns on it the whole time. There were also jokes made about Maria having a baby on Christmas Day (the virgin Mary = Maria in Swedish). Anyway, everything went well, and she had a healthy baby girl.
In other news, I introduced my best friend and my boy to Slings and Arrows. We watched four episodes in one go, and they both loved it. \o/
Also, I dented the hood of my parents' car while getting the skis down from the rafters in the ceiling of the garage. There was a lot of stuff up there, and something, um, fell down onto the car. My mom is going to be so mad at me. I'm pondering how best to break the news to her. At least she's half a world away. *cringes*
Now, off to Yuletide and DSSS.
