(Late) Fix Things Friday

Oops, forgot to post this yesterday. I have:

- Called new union members to say welcome, encourage them to come to an introductory meeting, and see if they have questions.
- Held the introductory meeting for new members. Not many people came, but those who did were engaged and one of them was already starting up a new section at her workplace.
- Worked on new introductory leaflet to send to new union members.
- Gave feedback on newspaper piece on climate stuff that alas was not picked up by the newspaper.
- Put together agenda points for next board meeting in environmental organization.
- Innumerable emails on various things. Organizational infrastructure, it requires communication.

It's now been three or four years since I was involved anything organising or activisty. So much writing and talking and communication! :)

There really is! I mean, I spend so much time on small stuff that I can't really categorize as "I did this one thing that I can put on a list", yet it's necessary for things to function.

Do you have any thoughts on the debate about the climate impact of bioenergy from forests (especially boreal ones)?

I confess I'm not up to date on that debate! Is the bioenergy you're referring to from burning wood (and presumably re-growing the forest where it's been cut -- from a CO2 perspective that's obviously important) or something more sophisticated?

Yup, that's it. The Swedish forest industry is really pushing bioenergy from wood, and also substitution of wood for more energy-intensive materials. Thus you get things like "the more wood products you buy, the better for the climate" and "we should cut down all the nature reserves and burn them for biofuel". *headdesk*

SO MANY EMAILS. I am still on the email chain for an org I'm no longer part of because of not living in the same city anymore, and I like seeing all the emails that go by, but it is kind of relaxing not to feel obliged to answer any of them!

Ha, I think it would feel stressful to me to read all those emails for something I'm not part of anymore, but I get that it might also feel reassuring, that things are happening without you, too.
