Library love

luzulaI just went on a tour of the university library. Man, I love libraries. &hearts I think it's the feeling that there is so much more to know and learn--it's comforting to me, somehow.
We went into one of the rooms, and the librarian guide said, "And here we have every Swedish fiction book ever published." So cool. I thought they'd take up more space, though? (Apparently, they get a free copy sent to them of everything published in Sweden, which is why they have it all.) Also, there was a wonderful, quiet room with hundreds of newspapers and magazines, and huge basement storage rooms with moveable bookcases. They were electronically monitored, so that they stopped automatically if someone was in danger of being squashed inbetween.
I was kind of intrigued by their filing system. It wasn't by subject or alphabetical, but sorted by the year they'd obtained it, which means that if you just browsed a non-fiction bookcase you could end up with anything. It might make for interesting browsing, though--you could find stuff you didn't know you'd like. I and my boyfriend are planning to go over there soon and explore it together.
