I am slowly going mad

I am giving university students feedback on their writing. The report I am currently reading begins with the sentence: "A reality problem in mathematics is an attempt to attempt modelling population over time." It does NOT get better further along.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. *beats head against wall*

(Well, actually the sentence was: "Ett verklighet problem inom matematiken är ett försök till att försöka modellera population över tid." But I did my best to capture the multiple levels of bad writing in English.)

Ugh. There's a tipping point beyond which I stop being able to offer edits/corrections and start wanting to rewrite the whole thing in my own words. That example is well beyond that point!

I so feel your pain. Grading papers requires a great deal of patience and fortitude. Also, frequent venting breaks.
