Cold Welcome by Elizabeth Moon (2017, audiobook)
The audiobook reader is okay, though I kind of miss the full theatrical audiobooks of the previous series--they felt a bit like a blockbuster SF action movie, except you're listening instead of watching, and also most of the characters are women. As for the content, it was pretty much what I expected? I am not into the military hierarchy stuff, but I do enjoy characters being competent, and also there's winter survival stuff.

The Seneca Effect by Ugo Bardi (2017)
Another book about collapse (societal and otherwise), but the last such book I read was by an archaeologist and this one is by a chemist, and they naturally have different angles on it. Well worth reading; here is an introduction by the author if you're curious.

I'm impressed you can read books re: collapse without enacting same.

Well, I space them out a bit and combine with lighter reading (and non-reading). But yeah, it's hard to constructively walk the line between staring at the oncoming headlights and sticking your head in the sand. Actually both books stress that collapse can be a good and necessary thing. But still, probably not much fun to live in.
