How is it time for YT nominations already??

Anyway, here are things I am thinking of nominating:
Aubrey/Maturin series - Patrick O'Brian (Diana Villiers)
Mars Trilogy - Kim Stanley Robinson (Sax Russell, Ann Clayborne, Nadia Cherneshevsky, Arkady Bogdanov)
Left Hand of Darkness - Ursula K. Le Guin (worldbuilding)
Always Coming Home - Ursula K. Le Guin (worldbuilding)
Hwarhath Stories: Transgressive Tales by Aliens - Elizabeth Arnason (worldbuilding)

Maybe I can convince someone else to nom Diana though? That would free up space for me...

And here are more things I'd love to nominate, given unlimited nominations. Several of these usually do get nominated anyway, though.
Watership Down - Richard Adams
Earthsea - Ursula K. Le Guin
The Dark Is Rising - Susan Cooper
Sunshine - Robin McKinley
Papillon (1973)

What Yuletide fandoms are you excited about?

Those all sound great. I'd be most excited about Watership Down, all three Le Guins, and Sunshine.

I always like to see Sunshine, Earthsea, and The Dark Is Rising in the Yuletide tagset, and feel that it wouldn't really be Yuletide without them. Other favourite Yuletide fandoms are the Wise Child books by Monica Furlong, and The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay, although I normally rely on other people to nominate all these fandoms and save my own nomination slots for true fandoms-of-one for which I am desperate to read fic. I'm dithering a bit on my nominations this year, but should have made up my mind by the end of the weekend.

It really is a wonderful series of books, and as I say, it's something I always hope is in the tagset.

alltoseek has already nominated Diana, Sophie, Jack and Stephen for the Aubrey-Maturin books, so if she sticks with her current nominations, those are covered!

if I stick! I'm not so wiffle-waffley! Well ok maybe I am, but those are the only eligible fandoms I can write!

It's so ironic, I only got into Vorkosigan Saga through yuletide last year, and now it's not eligible! I want to throw a tantrum! I wish the mods really did cultivate that garden to make it eligible every year :-(

(they could do it if they eliminated crossovers, which I think they should for all fandoms, honestly. Too often fandoms are listed when it's really a fusion, or only a cameo, or writers lump a whole bunch of unrelated ficlets together into one fic.)

on another note, Always Coming Home! I love all LeGuin, but for some reason that one popped into my head the other day. I haven't read it for ages, but back when I first got it in the 80's, I used to listen to the cassette of music just for the music itself. It was in rotation with my other cassettes. Now how sad no cassette players anymore D: Do you think the hipsters might bring them back when they get tired of vinyl?

Maybe you need to band together with the other Vorko fans and strategically withdraw a few dozen fics from AO3 every September, nudge the total below 1000 for a few weeks ;)

But... but I'm still getting kudos on them!
