So, I'm back, and I had a great time. No pictures at this time, alas, because my camera is broken. But other people took pictures and promised to send them to me, so hopefully I can post some later on.

I'm kind of woozy in the head right now, because I spent the night on a bench at a railway station, and then held a seminar in the afternoon. And now I'm posting to LJ instead of going to my martial arts training, because I'm just too tired for that.

We were just two participants: me and another woman, and then there was the same guide as last year. I got along well with both of them. This year, I was on a longer trip, and we were camping, so I had seven dogs compared to the five I had last year, to cope with the bigger load. That was fine in the beginning when my sled was heavy, but they were a bit of a challenge towards the end. I seem to have improved my driving skills, though--I only fell down once, and then I got up again quickly, instead of the pathetic dragging-along-on-my-belly-while-holding-on-for-dear-life that I did several times last year.

I'd never done winter camping in the mountains before, so that was interesting. Basically, you keep warm because there are so many chores to do. Unharnessing and staking out the dogs, putting up the tents, melting water for soaking the dog food (this takes forever), cooking for yourself, feeding the dogs, digging holes for the dogs. That's about it. And then you wriggle into your sleeping bag and sleep like a log. Actually, getting into the sleeping bag took me forever, too. For example, the inner, removable part of my super-warm boots would freeze to the outer part, and I had to get them apart in order to put the inner boots between my two sleeping bags, so they wouldn't be too cold in the morning. Another irritating thing is that you have to drink hot fluids all the time, but that leads to having to get out of your warm, comfy sleeping bags in the middle of the night. : (

The dogs are just...well, they turn me into a big mushy pile of love. They're Siberian huskies, and they are so beautiful, and they all look different and have their own personalities. I learned the names of all 25 dogs that were on the trip.

I equally love the landscape that we traveled through. The Sarek is pretty rugged land, with old glacier valleys cutting through areas with sharp peaks. We also went through Padjelanta, which is more flat (or rolling hills, more like it) but like the Sarek, it's above the treeline. I've hiked through Sarek in the summer time, and it was just beautiful to see it in winter.

Hmm, I feel more post-CotW F/K fic coming on, which I really have no excuse writing more of. It's like catching the flu or something. *g*

Also, I sent out postcards. All of them have a stamp with the Queen on it (the Swedish queen, that is). : )

That sounds amazing. I had to settle for a day trip, which was pretty awesome all on its own.

I sat for a bit and drove for a bit. Also fell off for a bit.

Yeah, I meant to comment with my new address, but I forgot. Never mind, I still have the card from your last trip!
