I have a cold and am therefore reading comfort books/fic. Also, I got my Yuletide assignment, which seems doable? I don't have an immediate idea, but hopefully reviewing canon will spark something.

That Looks on Tempests by [archiveofourown.org profile] AMarguerite (Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennett/Colonel Fitzwilliam)
Yesss, I love this AU ending. I did like the Darcy version too, but if I had to choose an ending, I'd choose this one. A+ comfort reading.

Mother of Souls by Heather Rose Jones (2016, #3 in the Alpennia series)
I tend to think of these books as F/F romance, but really, the romance takes up a very small part of it, and it isn't even resolved at the end. Not that I really mind. It introduces two new characters, who alternate on the odd-numbered chapters, but all four of the old characters (two couples) still get rotating POV:s on the even-numbered chapters. This is an extremely Bechdel-test-passing series--it reminds me of The Comfortable Courtesan in that way, and it's set in about the same time period, too. There are women collaborating, being teachers/students to each other, being friends, being lovers, being mentors, being colleagues, etc (not enemies, though, not that all of them necessarily agree about everything). I don't understand what the title of the book refers to, though?

This whole series much recommended. And there's a new book in the series coming out soon!
