The travel restrictions in Sweden have been loosened a bit, and I've been at the family summer place for ten days now. We took the risk of going there all together: me, my parents, and my sister's family (who have very likely had it already—her husband is a teacher, and months ago he was in contact with students who definitely had it, and then they all got sick). And we're all still feeling well, which is a relief. My sister's family left a couple of days ago, and now it's just me and my parents.
Aside from some occasional friction with my mom, which we are both really trying to keep to a minimum, it is wonderful to be here! Right now it's hot, and I spend a lot of time down by the lake, alternating between going swimming and sitting naked in the shade and writing fic. It gives me much joy.
My ambitious historical divergence AU of Flight of the Heron is now over 50,000 words! \o/ I have a few more plot issues to figure out, but I'm making good progress on them.
Fight for a Throne: the Jacobite '45 Reconsidered by Christopher Duffy (2015)
I have finally finished this--I'd read up unto the parts I most needed for my current fic, and came back for the rest now. This book might as well have been titled Very Detailed Reference Handbook for Writing FotH Fan Fiction. I refer to it almost every day while writing. Duffy is a good writer, too, so it's a pleasure to read, but it is a 600 page brick, excluding the references, and they're large and densely printed pages, so it took a while to get through.

:D
I must get round to this one eventually! I'm sure it is good, if it's more like The '45. What exactly is Duffy 'reconsidering'?

It's basically a revised version of The '45, but much more detailed and with some partly new conclusions. The page count is the same, but much more text is crammed onto every page. I should have just ordered this one first, because it's better. : )
