FYI, I'll be away for a week soon with no internet, doing surveys of old-growth forests above the polar circle.

Here are some photos from the three days I just spent sailing on the west coast with my parents, proving that Sweden can compete with the Scottish Highlands when it comes to picturesque blooming heather.

This is the view from the boat when sailing, with a ridiculously blue sky overhead.

And this is on Dyrön, with the purple heather blooming, looking out towards the village of Åstol on another island.

In other news, I have just reached 65K on my current Flight of the Heron longfic, the Keith/Ewen/Alison one! \o/ Posting as I go has worked well so far, although I've just discovered a book I ought to read that I hope will not reveal how wrong I got the chapters where Alison is with the army...

Oh, that sky is incredible!

I hope you have tons of fun up above the polar circle -- good luck and hi to the trees!

That sounds nice, so I hope it is.

Thank you for the sea-photos.

That's fabulously beautiful. As will be the old-growth forests. Enjoy! And congrats on how the longfic is going; not my cuppa, as you know, but by heck are you productive! :D

Aww, that heather is very lovely, especially with that blue sea and sky.

And brilliant progress on the fic, and yay that the experimental posting schedule is working well! I hope the book is useful and doesn't present too many historical problems. :D

Good wishes for the forest surveys! :)

Ohhh, that's gorgeous! Well done, Sweden.

(Side note, I read Flight of the Heron on a recent vacation, and it was delightful! Exactly what I wanted for vacation reading -- reading on a Scottish folk dance vacation, no less, though in Canada rather than Scotland -- and intensely of its era, in a way I found entertaining but also great, because that era was big into competence/loyalty/moral virtue kink in a way I deeply appreciate. I need to do a post about it, but wanted to tell you, at any rate, as the person who is the reason I knew about it to read in the first place.)

:) It was a very cool sighting, and I'm glad you told me about it! Sorry for taking a while to reply, by the way—I don't text a lot and had been remiss about checking messages. And I look forward to the photos :D
