Ta da! My audiobook of The Wounded Name is done, at around 17 hours. : D And I really enjoyed the reread, especially noticing the ways that Aymar cares about Laurent, as well. The first time round, Laurent’s overwhelming crush kind of obscured everything else. *g*

Summary:

Laurent de Courtomer, the son of a French aristocratic emigré and an Englishwoman, returns to France upon the Bourbon restoration following Napoleon's defeat in 1814. He meets a young Breton Royalist officer who quite turns his head with hero worship: Aymar de la Rocheterie. But when Napoleon escapes from Elba and war breaks out again, Laurent meets Aymar again, severely wounded and under suspicion of treason. As Laurent nurses him back to health, the evidence against Aymar seems to become worse and worse. Will Aymar be able to clear his name, and will Laurent's devotion to him remain unshaken?

Wahey, well done, and it's great to see this posted :D I will definitely listen to a little bit of it soon, partly because I want to check my pronunciation of the characters' names, but I'm also sure it's a lovely reading of a book I've just got to like better and welcome another chance to revisit.

Your summary is very accurate. A less formal summary: Ridicuous overgrown schoolboy with romantic notions about wars, kings etc falls for arrogant wounded young nobleman whose noble refusal to be any less arrogant has landed him in hot water. Swords and hot pokers (and probably other poky things) are wielded, hurt/comfort ensues, there's a slightly incestuous subplot involving a token fainty damsel, and everyone lives happily [together] ever after. Huzzah!
