Dear Yuletide writer

Welcome, and I am so happy that we share this rare fandom! And I hope you have fun writing. : )
In general, I enjoy both gen and shippy fic, and when it comes to the latter, explicit sex or fade-to-black are both fine. Given the endings of the first two canons, tragedy and character death is fine, but I do like there to be some sense of meaning and hope and warmth between characters. Please no infidelity, but I love poly with the consent of all parties involved. I also don't want any change of setting AU:s (but canon divergence AU is fine, as is adding supernatural elements to the first two canons).
Flemington by Violet Jacob (Archie Flemington, James Logie, Captain Callandar)
I already received a lovely gift for this fandom last year, but there should be more fic for it! I ship Archie Flemington/James Logie and Archie Flemington/Captain Callandar about equally, and would be very happy to receive fic about either pair of characters. Or hey, you could also have Callandar and Logie interacting more afterwards, if you want! Don't feel like you have to include all three of them. Some ideas: What if Flemington and Logie met on the Muir of Pert, or before that, at some point during the war? What if they didn't meet on Inchbrayock, so that Logie doesn't know that Flemington is a spy, and still trusts him? What if Logie tries to save Flemington? Basically, I want all the fork-in-the-road AU:s. As for Flemington and Callandar, you could write a missing scene between them, or try to figure out if there's some way out of that ending. Or you could write a crossover with some other Jacobite canon! Things I like: conflicts between honour and duty and love, hurt/comfort, geeky historical detail, and landscape description.
The Wounded Name by D K Broster (Laurent de Courtomer, Aymar de la Rocheterie)
I love this in all its iddy glory: when you think it can't become any more over the top, Broster proves you wrong. The hurt-comfort, the courtroom drama, Aymar's angsty wounded honour, Laurent's devotion, it's all great. You could give me the kissing or sex they're probably having in some missing scene, for example, or you could write some canon divergence: what happens if Aymar's name is not cleared at the end? For that matter, Laurent could well be court-martialled for ditching his duty and staying with Aymar! With Avoye, you could either have her and Aymar love each other like siblings instead, or keep their relationship and resolve the ending into poly. But if you do the latter, please don't lean into the sibling-like nature of Aymar/Avoye (it already almost trips my incest squick).
Bonnie Dundee by Rosemary Sutcliff (Darklis Ruthven, Lady Jean)
We don't see much of their relationship in the book, since it's from Hugh's POV, but Darklis and Jean make a sort of counterpart to Hugh's devotion to Claverhouse. I would love to see more of them! You can take it in a femslashy direction if you want, but honestly I think what I want is the sort of loyalty (especially in wartime) that we often get between male characters, but less often between female ones. Perhaps with an unspoken romantic or sexual tension? So, how do they first form that bond? What conflicting loyalties do they have, and how do they handle them? What happens between them when Lady Jean marries? What about after Claverhouse dies?
The Flight of the Heron by D K Broster (any characters)
I have no specific prompts--since I've been writing so much for the fandom, I suppose I just want to read something I wouldn't come up with myself? So, here's what I love about the canon: Obviously I ship Ewen and Keith--the enemies-to-friends-to-lovers aspects, the way they are torn between their duty and their love, the hurt-comfort. Broster knew how to write fannish catnip, is what I'm saying. But you don't have to write a shippy Keith/Ewen story! I also like Ewen/Alison, if that is something you're into, or I'd be happy to get a gen story about Ewen and Lachlan when they were young (how does that devotion/jealousy of Lachlan's come about?), or about familial relationships, or backstory, or some missing scene from canon, or some worldbuilding exploring the supernatural aspects of canon (how about the heron's POV?). Also, I love landscape description and geeky historical detail.
Kidnapped by R L Stevenson (David Balfour, Alan Breck Stewart)
This is such a great adventure story, and Alan and Davie are so much fun together! I'll be honest and say that I left writing my prompts far too late, and just gesture enthusiastically in the direction of
regshoe's prompts for this fandom. That doesn't mean I would be less happy to get a story in this fandom--I would love it! I have not read Catriona, so I would prefer you not use that canon. Slash and gen are both welcome.
Also, crossovers welcome between any of these canons where you can manage it!
