This and that (a somewhat disjointed post)

So, an update. I've had a few stressful weeks: a ton of teaching, lots of work and some conflict in my environmental organization, trying to find a new housemate. To my huge relief, work will calm down beginning next week. The volunteer workload will likely continue as is, but I can cope with that if work is calmer. We decided against the housemate I posted about a while ago, deciding to follow our gut feeling, and another one that we liked unfortunately found another place. But if we don't find anyone this month, that's okay--we can share the rent for that room and wait for someone who feels right.

I had pancakes today with a buffet of homemade jam: bilberry, lingonberry, gooseberry, red currant, blackberry, apple. All from berries that either I or my mom have picked. Yum. This is why I make pancakes often...or probably Americans would call them crepes, since they are thin.

I am currently rereading my first FotH longfic (That Good Faith), from a book I have bound myself. It's the first time I reread it since 2020, and while there are small things I might change, I do like it. I can tell that it's my first fic in the fandom--it has that headlong energy of falling in love. <3

My current longfic is at 130K, and I just finished chapter 26, which will be posted soon. And I just started writing my assignment for unsent_letters_exchange. Oooops, and I should write a letter for that exchange! Coming up soon.

It is! And thanks for the good wishes. Finding a new housemate stresses me out every time, so I'm partly trying to reassure myself that it's okay if we don't find one right away…

Thanks! It's such a relief to have less at work. But I did just get another long e-mail from a relatively new guy on the board who thinks we are doing everything the Wrong Way in the organization where I am active… he is exhausting and I do not, in the main, agree with him. Arrgh.

Me: Perhaps the solution is for you to write your own motions that you think are better, instead of complaining about the initiatives that everyone else is taking?

Waiting for someone who feels right sounds like an excellent choice: roommates are right there in your living space, after all, day in and day out.

Yay, Chapter 26! I'm close enough to the end of "The Greater Happiness" that, depending on when you post Chapter 26, I may hold off on the new update until I finish TGH. Please don't take any delay on my part as a lack of eagereness for the new chapter. <3

Yes, I do really need the respite!! I need some time to lie on the couch and read, and to tidy up my room, etcetera.

Fingers crossed you find a better match for a housemate soon. It's always going to be a bit of a dice roll, but there's no point in being stuck with someone who felt wrong if you can afford to wait.

It sounds like an awful lot on top of a busy job as well, and I hope things calming down at work does make it easier. ♥
