Dogsledding pictures!

Better late than never, huh? Sadly, I didn't have a camera with me on my dogsledding trip in the Sarek this winter, but now I've got hold of some lovely pictures from the guide. Here they are:


This is me and Pelle, who was very fond of lightning-fast lick-people-in-the-face attacks.


Here's Cicci, who apparently thinks it's warmer to lie on top of Hilda. Or maybe she just wants to look like a queen on her throne.

I probably won't go dogsledding this winter, because I'm thinking of going to Bitchingparty instead. But no way was this the last time I did it--I am so hooked on dogsledding.

On a fannish note, wow, that's a lot of comms starting up (or re-starting) at the same time. I signed up for a round of guest reccing over at ds_recsredux, because I've missed that comm. Also, so far I am doing better at the "mifu" part of wrisomifu than the "wriso" part, but hopefully that will change.

Okay, just letting you know that those pictures are making me incredible jealous.

It certainly looks like an awesome trip! The snow! The sun! The dogs!

The dogs are totally having a good time. It's incredible how eager they were every morning, and I love their temperament. They're working dogs and quite self-sufficient, but still very approachable for snuggles.

The pictures are making me jealous (of my past self). I want to be back there now!

And yeah, some snow would be nice, instead of the day-long drizzle we had yesterday.

Yeah, the photos are really lovely. And the thought of Bitchingparty makes me...kind of nervous and also guilty over all the CO2 emissions flying over to the US would cause? Still, I do want to go to a con some time.

OMG, cutest dogs ever! I just want to reach right through my computer screen and snuggle them. I love the one of Cicci lying on top of Hilda. It amazes me that they can look so comfortable.

I know, they are so adorable! Since they're so good at what they do, you kind of expect them to be aloof. And yeah, some of them are, but some are really cuddly and turn up their belly at you.

Yeah, I'm glad to finally have some pictures to share! And it's not that cold, actually, at least not during the day, because you're always doing chores and moving around if you're not driving. And okay, it's pretty cold at night, but then you're bundled up in really thick sleeping bags. The worst is having to get up to pee in the middle of the night. And also when my inner boots froze to the outer ones and I couldn't get them loose. *g*

You should do it! I've always been kind of obsessed with the idea of dogsledding, and I had ridiculously high expectations my first time. But I was really not disappointed. The drawback is that it's pretty expensive.

Yeah, I can't stop looking at the dogs either. We had 25 dogs on this trip, and I knew them all by name at the end of the trip--that's how much time I spent with them.

Yes, it really is! I saw these mountains for the first time when I was fourteen or so, and I've gone back almost every year, mostly in the summer, but also in winter.
