1. I seem to be writing Generation Kill fic. I'm surprised, since I've written nothing but due South for over two years. Still wishing I could've fallen for something else instead. But I think I know what it is that appeals to me most about the Brad/Nate pairing: it's the mutual unspoken trust and understanding that comes from going through danger together.

2. Does this sudden writing of stuff-other-than-due-South mean I could potentially have signed up for Yuletide? That would've been so cool. I think I'll try writing an unfulfilled Yuletide request during next year, and if I manage that, I might sign up for next year. Yuuuuuletide! I am all excited for all the new fic that's coming.

3. [livejournal.com profile] wrisomifu is going better, and I've done some work both on my DSSS and my Big Bang story. I feel the need to do more research for the last one, though. *resolves to go to the university library and borrow a pile of books on northern Canada*

4. Somewhat related to the last item, I've discovered that my university publishes an academic journal called Journal of Northern Studies. Check out the tables of content! There's a lot of cool stuff there. Also, I recently listened to a talk by a professor who does research about how the North is presented in literature and popular culture. Very interesting.

5. Another thing to check out: I discovered [livejournal.com profile] femgenficathon, which is for gen stories about female characters. So cool! There's a masterlist here. I recommend A Prudential Light, by [livejournal.com profile] tree, which is about Charlotte Lucas from Pride and Prejudice.

Huh, this post overuses the word "cool".

For now, please comment at the LJ entry.

Yay, writing! (I, too, am surprised to find myself writing non-DS fic. It's weird, eh?)

I went and read the Austen story and enjoyed it. Haven't read much Austen fic at all, and this made me think I should start looking for some - apparently there's good stuff out there. Thanks for the rec.

Hey, thanks! I also should be working, so I'll save reading some of these as a reward for later. :-)
