Incalculable Diffusion by A J Hall (2019)
Well, I ought to have gone straight to this series for comfort reading instead, obviously! This entry (the third in the series of spin-offs of the original 12-volume Comfortable Courtesan series) is a collection of short stories exploring the lives of various minor characters as well as of the next generation: the kids of the main characters, growing up. Aww, Flora and Hanna's platonic partnership is lovely (although all the children they have is not quite hitting my personal sweet spot, but to each their own, that is sort of the point).

Handbok för köksträdgården by Lena Israelsson (2018)
A vegetable gardening bible which I read cover to cover, very inspiring and knowledgeable. Must purchase this one as a reference work.

The Larks Still Bravely Singing by Aster Glenn Gray (2021)
Another excellent choice! Somehow I always mix up the title with Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang, though. This is an m/m romance between two recovering WWI vets in England, and has the author's usual...specificity, perhaps? Specific in that it doesn't feel in the least generic, but digs into the setting and how it would impact the romance, both in regard to the war and to the public school culture (which I personally don't know much about, but the setting feels vivid to me). It's also specific in that the details in what's going on are always engaging, if that makes sense. I enjoyed this book a lot, but it doesn't quite top Tramps and Vagabonds for me. But how can I not be charmed when the two main characters flirt by way of writing Alan/Davie fan fiction for Kidnapped together? Awwwww. <3

I got your postcard too! Lovely, thanks very much.

Book reviews interesting as always.

ha, the first thing I thought of was Listen for the Singing, another completely unrelated book...

I have known vaguely about this book for a while (and been thinking, eek, that sounds just a little too much like The Charioteer for comfort), and never knew this about it!

...Does the reader get to hear excerpts? :D

Laurie/Andrew... :( oh dear, I am feeling conflicted about this book now! Perhaps at some point... I would like to know about the characters' ideas for Alan/Davie plots.

OK, I see! That's very kind of you to offer, but I think I will wait a sensible amount of time and then maybe try reading it myself :)
