Farm! \o/

Okay, I've moved in! Here are some photos. I feel all "wow, am I actually allowed to live here?? For real?" It's so beautiful! And I went swimming in the lake for the first time today!

Here is the house, along with some of the other buildings belonging to the farm:


Here is the view from the balcony, with the lake and (to the left) a little extra cabin where guests can stay (or I can rent it out if I need extra money). The house to the right is my nearest neighbor.

Not pictured: the rest of the land belonging to the farm. Also not pictured: all the boxes in various states of unpacking. One of my housemates-to-be came by today with some stuff, and he's moving in tomorrow. He is actually British originally, which means I'm going to hide away my collection of books on 18th century British history in my room, or I'm afraid he'll think I'm weird. He seems great though--he's a birdwatcher and has lots of ideas about vegetable gardening! Also he must be determined to have learned Swedish in five years, because it's so easy to get by on English here.

Tonight one of my best friends is coming by to help me unpack, and staying for the weekend. <3

So far I have gone swimming every day--who needs a shower when there's a lake? (Probably I won't say that in December.)

Oh that is SO PRETTY. It looks absolutely idyllic. The one time I've ever visited Sweden, well before I knew you, my mom and I took the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki past about one million islands, and I remember the scenery of the islands looking a little like that... The trees are beautiful, the house looks great (also, what's the little tiny gazebo thing in the last picture?) and it's so neat to have the water right there.

It is so pretty! The little gazebo thing is, in fact, a gazebo (or at least what the Swedish word "lusthus" translates to). Personally I would not have put time and money into building one, but the previous owners did. I have no idea if I'll use it!

That is so gorgeous I am reflecting on my failure to make life choices that would have brought me to live on a Swedish. I do not want to own ten acres and have to manage it! But your photos make me almost change my mind.

Alas, it is not a greenhouse but a gazebo (or at least "gazebo" appears to be the English word I want). I feel that a greenhouse is in my future, but it's not an immediate priority.
