Thanks! : D My hands were very cold when I came in, though, and it hurt when they warmed up...

Oh, that looks very very cold! But the whole scene with the snow and the lake look lovely!

It was fine with regard to my core body temperature! I'd been skiing beforehand. But it was quite cold for my feet and hands when I dressed afterwards, though luckily I had brought something insulating to stand on.

Clearly the sauna is a future project! It looks wonderful, though I would stick to the skiing and just admire the lake from the shore.

The thing is, I am also a person who easily gets cold sitting around in the living room! But winter bathing is something else--you warm up first by exercise so that you actually feel like a warm-blooded animal, before you get in. And then the cold is sharp and short, not the sort of vaguely I-think-I-need-another-sweater cold...

It is both beautiful and cold, yes! But on Monday we are predicted to get warmer weather and lots of rain, so I assume the snow will soon be gone, sadly.

I mean, at least half of my satisfaction comes not just from it feeling good, but from having the guts to do it. It makes me feel alive. : )

I've rolled in the snow after sauna on a Vermont mountain, and it's wonderful. Helps me understand how humans can thrive in extreme climates--like the kids in Tibet who run around barefoot in the snow.

Some of my neighbors have hot tubs they enjoy lolling in when it's above -7°C, but that lacks the contrast.

Of course in this moment of the Anthropocene it's hard to generalize, but does the lake usually freeze or is it generally open all winter?

Yeah, I too like rolling in the snow after sauna! Sadly we don't have a sauna here, but we might build one eventually...

The neighbors say that the lake used to freeze over, but doesn't usually now, sadly. : ( But there's a smaller lake nearby which often does freeze.

My toes usually go red instead! Perhaps they would lose the red if they actually got dangerously cold, but just a quick dip in the lake won't cause that...
