Life update + holiday fic status + Victorian porn

1) I have employment for 2011! (My current contract runs out in January.) I'll get 50% research and 50% teaching. \o/

2) I just started teaching again after two years of just research. I'd forgotten how much fun it was! Sure, if you do it all the time, it tires you out, but now it's a nice change to meet some students. Also, my voice held out! Given that I only did lecturing at the blackboard for about 20 minutes, and went around and helped people individually the rest of the time, this may not seem much of an achievement, but I felt like I could concentrate on using the right vocal techniques while doing it. So that is at least a promising sign.

3) dSSS status: I'm almost done--I only need to wrap up the epilogue.

4) Yuletide status: I've only written 600 words so far, but I'm not worried.

5) Librivox just posted an audiobook of explicit Victorian porn: The Life and Amours of the Beautiful, Gay and Dashing Kate Percival, the Belle of the Delaware. Seriously, one of the chapters is titled "An Orgy". *downloads out of curiosity*

Thank you! Yes, employment is a good thing. I wasn't sure until recently if the university would keep me on or not.

Employment is FTW! It's nice that you get to split between teaching and research, so you're less likely to get tired of either of them. :D

I am delighted to hear so much good news! I've been missing you lately. :)

Yes, it is good news! And I don't feel like I've been away, but maybe I haven't been posting much about RL stuff. Anyway, I am doing well. I'm grateful to be mostly healthy--last winter I had a cold that lasted for months, and it wore me down. But right now I am exercising and working out a lot, which feels great. How are things with you?

Oh, and also, I have an author rec for you: tweedisgood. I recently read one of her Holmes/Watson stories and loved it; I think you'd enjoy it, too.
