Oh, it's a great book. He writes a lot about Russian history and society, interwoven with his own life. He doesn't write much about his private life (in contrast with Emma Goldman, who writes all about her various lovers), but there's still quite a lot of drama (daring escapes from prison!). And there's one adorable moment when he graduates from military school as a youth and volunteers to be posted to Siberia, and one of his fellow officers goes: *gasp* "But their uniforms are so ugly!" Reminds me of Benton Fraser somehow, although Fraser doesn't have his anti-authoritarian streak.
