Here's an interest poll from desireearmfeldt! For reasons that don't need exploring at this juncture, it is posted at my journal instead of Desiree's.

Greetings! A while ago, I (Desiree) idly wondered aloud why there wasn’t such a thing as a Due South/Canadian-6-Degrees general-purpose prompt meme, where people could leave prompts for others to use as inspiration. And the universe (aka sageness) spake unto me, saying “go find out if people are interested in such a thing, and if they are, make it happen.” So here I am.

Here’s what I envision:
*An open prompt meme run via Archive of Our Own (because it turns out you can do that).
*Open access for leaving and filling prompts (though you’d need an AO3 account to participate).
*No time element; as with the existing kinkmeme, prompts would stay up and could be filled any time, multiple times if people felt so moved.
*This prompt collection would be general-purpose rather than specifically focused on kink or anything else in particular: prompts could relate to sexual or non-sexual scenarios. (I know the existing kinkmeme rules include gen, but it mostly seems to have been used for kink-related prompts, as the name implies.)
*DS and C6D fandoms would be eligible; fandom-specific or choose-your-fandom prompts would both be welcome. I would probably post the occasional public reminder of the meme’s existence, but mostly it would just be there for people to visit at their convenience.

You want me to tell you what ReGenesis is all about? *rubs hands* It’s not often I get to talk about the show, and when I do, it’s gonna be hard to stop me, but tell you what, I basically wrote all of that up for my Peter Outerbridge website not too long ago. I could copy and paste the pertinent parts here, but it might be easier if you read it over there. I’d advise you to stay away from the episode summaries if you might want to watch the show at some point, because they’re pretty spoilery.

As for the ReGenesis fandom, well, I don’t think such a thing still exists. I only stumbled across ReGenesis in late 2011, by which point the show had been off the air for over three years. I tried to find places where there was still fandom activity—pretty much unsuccessfully so. Every now and then you come across new people who find the show, but I’m not aware of any fandomy place where there’s still lively discussions. There’s a handful of fanvids I’ve found, and no more than ten fanfics in total (mostly slash, which is usually not my cup of tea). So if that is any indication, I’d say the fandom was pretty small to begin with. I’m just a little sad I didn’t discover the show at a time when there was still fandom activity at all.

How is the show C6D? I might not be the best person to ask that, because I’m not sure who put together the list of eligible C6D fandoms. I’ve never seen Due South, but there’s probably more than one indirect connection. Off the top of my head, none of the main DS cast have starred in ReGenesis, but I can make you a second degree connection via Paul Gross. He co-starred in the movie Men With Brooms with Peter Outerbridge (who plays the lead on ReGenesis) and Greg Bryk (who’s also part of the main ReGen cast). ReGenesis is Canadian through and through, written and produced by Canadians and starring mostly Canadian actors with tons of guest stars that you keep seeing in other Canadian productions. It’s set and filmed in and around Toronto, which is featured prominently in most episodes. I believe the building they used for the NorBAC lab is in Hamilton, ON. David’s (the main character) loft was supposed to be in Toronto’s Distillery District, where I guess they also filmed the exteriors for it. It just proudly spells “Canada” all over, and I’m totally loving that. :-)

I love all things Canadian... Okey dokey, I'm going to see if I can get hold of the dvds at some point and watch them. And I'll read your story when it's published. If I get around to watching the show then I'll maybe write agift fic, obviously gen for you. Right now my C6D is based around Shattered, Eastwick, and any film with Sandra Oh. (Which is really six degrees, because I only found her via Wilbie Wonderful... which is wonderful.) So you might have to wait a good six months till I'm caught up with you.

That sounds like a plan, though I have a bit of bad news. The show was sadly never fully released on DVD. I believe in the US and Canada only s1 is available on DVD, in some European countries also s2 (the discs being RC-2, obviously). I heard the first three seasons are on Hulu, and I think there's someone on easybid.com who sells all four seasons that I've heard first hand are pretty decent quality. I suppose if all else fails, there's always places like Rapidshare. PM me if you want details.

I'm not sure just how much sense my story will make if you haven't seen the show, or even all the seasons. I mean, not that I want to keep anyone from reading my story! There's actually three ReGen fics in total I've already published, but most are shorter pieces I've written for comment fic-like challenges. One is a bit longer, but still a one-shot. I suppose you could understand that one if you didn't know the show, although it would help if you knew the kind of guy David is (cause, really, he's kind of messed up as a person). If you like, I can give you the links when I get home from work later today.

Sandra Oh I only know from Grey's Anatomy, which I actually quite like (cheesy and unrealistic as it may be at times). I really like the way she plays Christina. And I'm like that with Peter Outerbridge, I'll watch anything he's in (if I can get my hands on it, that is).

And also.... did I read that right? You'd be willing to write ReGenesis for me? :-O Whooooohoooo! You might just have made my day!! (I hope you like the show enough to actually end up doing it!!)

Peter Outerbridge also played Dan Jarvis in WW. And Ellen Page, who plays Emily in WW, plays the daughter of Outerbridge's character in ReGenesis. (I say, having been messing around on IMDB yesterday. :) )

Uhm, could it be you're mixing something up? James Allodi played Dan Jarvis. But he also connects to Peter Outerbridge via both Men With Brooms and ReGenesis. Allodi played a psychologist on ReGen in a few episodes.

And, yes, Ellen Page! I so love her character on ReGenesis! It's a shame she was only in the first eight episodes. But I loved her so much that I brought her back to Toronto in my post series fanfic.

PM me if you need any hints for how to get your hands on episodes of ReGenesis. ;-) I think the first three seasons are actually on Hulu too. And if my memory doesn't fail me, there's a guy selling all four seasons for a decent price on easybid.us which I've heard from someone who bought them are pretty good quality. (I assume they're downloaded AVI files off the internet converted into DVD format.)

About the ReGenesis DVD's, that's butterflyghost who is also commenting here to whom you should give the DVD-acquiring info. She and I are fic co-writers, separated by the Atlantic Ocean, and this summer I'll be crossing the ocean to spend several weeks with her to work in-person on our dSC6D BB...and we are going to watch tons of dSC6D DVD's together.
