Hey, I'm back in Sweden!

Gah, exhausting trip. I spent nine hours waiting at Heathrow airport, and wow, it was positively uncivilized after Argentina, which has (often free) wifi everywhere. At Heathrow, there is not only no free wifi, but the coffeeshops have no wifi, and the wifi access that you can buy was broken. So I paid for half an hour's internet at a reaaallllly slow stationary computer, and it blocked my Dreamwidth reading page for misogyny and sexism. Can you believe that? *boggles*

Anyway, enough venting. I do want to get home to my boyfriend, but first, I'm spending five days dog-sitting for my parents before they get home. Alone time with a cuddly dog, with nature walks, internet and a huge flat-screen tv: I am going to enjoy this!

I know, right? I mean, if they had blocked it for adult content, that would at least have made sense, even if I wouldn't have agreed with the censorship aspect of it.

Wow. That was my Internet experience at Heathrow in 2005; I didn't realize they were still that abysmal!

I wouldn't be surprised if those stationary computers hadn't been updated since 2005--they were running some really old version of IE.

Apologies on behalf of my uncivilised country... but welcome home! Pets, walks, internet and telly - add a hot bath and it sounds like heaven.

Well, it's not like airports are representative of a country--aside from the wifi issue, the Glorious Britain giftshop made me giggle. I do have vague plans to go to Scotland some time, and that should be fun. I hear there are oceanic lichens. : )

And I had the hot bath! It was wonderful.

Ha! of all reasons to visit Scotland, that's a new one to me. It does have an awful lot of deserted coastline, if that's what oceanic lichens are into... also good for skinnydipping, if you don't mind the cold :-)

Well, oceanic lichens are mostly into the oceanic climate with lots of rain, which you get since there are winds coming in off the ocean, hence the name oceanic. Western Norway has them, too, though western Sweden is not quite wet enough. I love temperate rainforests, and Scotland has them, though there seems to just be remnants left.

But yeah, skinnydipping is nice, too. : )
