First off, some statistics:
  • Total podfic output: 21 hours (24 podfics). This is down from 22 hours (20 podfics) last year, and 27 hours (34 podfics) the year before that. I'm only counting my part of the long collaborations.
  • 15 different fandoms are represented (as compared to 11 last year and 16 the year before that).
  • 8 out of 24 podfics are longer than one hour (as compared to 11 out of 20 last year).
  • Mean podfic length is 51 minutes (as compared to 1h 10m last year).
  • 51% of the podfic recording time is in my core fandoms due South and C6D (as compared to 39% last year and 37% the year before).
  • The recording time is 43% slash, 27% het, 24% gen, and 7% femslash (a notable change from last year when I had 0% het). Counted in podfics, 7.25 are slash, 4.75 are het, 8.75 are gen, and 3.25 are femslash.
  • 27% of the recording time is from a female POV (as opposed to 15% last year and 31% the year before).
I thought for sure I'd have podficced much less this year, because I really did almost no podficcing in the fall (except some work on a WIP), and I was in Argentina six weeks last winter. But I guess I podficced a lot when I was unemployed. I think I consciously recorded a fair amount of het this year, because I noticed that I hadn't done any at all the year before, and I wanted to try it? Hmm, no other trends that I can see.

My best podfic(s) of this year: My Big Bang podfic Xeriscape. I was really happy with the voice I found for John, and it's just a solid podfic overall, I think.

My favourite podfic of this year: Oh, hmm. I am tempted to say Xeriscape again? Yup, I think I will.

Podfic most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I dunno, podfic is not very feedback-heavy. Still, I think I'm getting my share of the feedback.

Most fun podfic to record: Recording in Quenya, ha ha: Nyarë Yondo Atacárala. Although I know I got the emphasis wrong on one of the words, which bugs me.

Sexiest podfic: Maybe Foreign Territory? Can't go wrong with Aristide.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" podfic: ...nothing?

Podfic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: This Body is Someone. I had a Frannie voice that worked for me before, but in this fic she was...more mature, I guess? I had to scrap my first recording and find another way of reading that worked.

Hardest podfic to make: See above. Otherwise, it was hard to track down a Mandarin speaker for pronunciation help for Learning Curve.

Biggest Disappointment: That I did so little recording September-December.

Biggest Surprise: That it was so easy to read Stella in On A Balcony in Summer Air. I mean, it's not that easy for me to write Stella.

Most Unintentionally Telling Podfic: Nothing I can think of?

Looking back, did you record more podfic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? Less.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you record that you would never have predicted in January 2012? I never expected to record Avengers podfic, but then I found this one fic that was everything I wanted in Avengers fic, and had to record it. I actually really enjoyed reading Steve POV.

Did you take any risks this year? What did you learn from them? I dunno, nothing particularly risky.

Do you have any podfic goals for the New Year? Let me just copy my answer from last year: I want to clear out my WIP folder, and I have a long list of potential fics to record. I also want to do some more collaborations. Overall, I want to record in a variety in fandoms, styles and genres, to develop my reading further and to have fun getting to act many different kinds of characters.

I'd like to thank the academy... I'm very grateful to my beta listeners: [personal profile] podfic_lover, [personal profile] andeincascade, [personal profile] boxofdelights, [livejournal.com profile] darlas_mom, [personal profile] riverlight, and [personal profile] malnpudl! Beta listeners are awesome. I also want to thank my collaborators and the people who made covers for me, and everyone who helped me pronounce various foreign-to-me languages, and obviously everyone who listened to, gave feedback, or recced my podfic. Thank you so much!

Wow, that is a lot of podfic. *g* And an impressive fandom spread! I hope I made a post talking about how much I liked your reading of Aristide's fic, because that was hot stuff indeed.
