Sequel to The Color of Light which I read recently.
jesse_the_k did not like the sequel as well as the first book, and I didn't either--it lacked the sense of discovery of the first one, where we got to explore the alien world. But I still enjoyed the sequel well enough, since I got to spend more time with characters I liked.
Cavalcade, by Alison Sinclair
SF where modern-day people are invited onto an alien ship without knowing what they'll get, and several thousand people go. They spend their time on the ship exploring it and trying to understand what's going on, and also trying to get along with each other. I liked the multiple POV:s and interests, and the science was interesting. But I was kind of baffled because ( sliiight spoiler )
