jesse_the_k. This is a graphic novel about a young German woman in the 1930's. First she's in England to learn English and have a career and also she has a relationship with a guy from Barbados, but then she goes back to Germany and ends up married to an SS officer. It's an interesting story of the slow normalization of fascism and someone choosing the easier road, and how historical events can be mundane when you live through them.
Paterson & Comp by Hugo Samzelius
The author was a state forester in late 19th-century northern Sweden. He married the daughter of a rich sawmill owner, and then wrote a novel about a guy marrying the daughter of an unscrupulous rich sawmill owner who cheats both the smallholders and his workers and finally gets his comeuppance when all his debts catch up to him. This apparently led to the author's divorce and also he was forced to pull back the book. I managed to track down a copy at the university library, which I wasn't allowed to borrow but got to scan to pdf. It is pretty much as advertised (except for a very facepalmy love scene with no consent).
