New dog

We have a second dog in the household! \o/ She is the polar opposite of the first dog, except for the general type of breed (my housemate has a thing for sighthounds). The first dog is small, male, energetic, and enthusiastically affectionate--when he comes down the stairs in the morning he usually takes a running jump into my lap if he sees that I'm sitting at the kitchen table. The second is large, female, calm, and not overtly affectionate. They're a good balance for each other. And since I've been getting to know her she has started asking for cuddles now, just in a more low-key way. Also she has such lovely ears. Having a housemate with dogs is the perfect situation for me--cuddles and dog-walks when I feel like it, but none of the responsibility.

No, his ears are a bit more limp (sorry, Iso, you are lovely anyway).

Yes, hunting is a big thing among non-indigenous Swedes, or a certain group of them, anyway. Mainly white men in rural areas, and they hunt mostly deer and moose. Housemate is not a hunter, though, if that's why you're asking.

Having a housemate with dogs is the perfect situation for me--cuddles and dog-walks when I feel like it, but none of the responsibility.

That sounds ideal. I quite like dogs, but have zero interest in ever being responsible for one.

I know, it's so great. My last household had a dog and two cats, and that was also pretty great.

And thanks, I do like having lots of plants indoors--most of them I've taken as clippings from other people's plants (not the one on the floor, though).

These both look and sound like lovely dogs! And they seem to be a good mix of personalities, too. I wasn't really familiar with sighthounds until you posted this and haven't seen dogs that look like this before - the huge ears on the second one are pretty awesome :D

The first one is an Italian greyhound and the second a podenco mix of some kind--actually she is originally a street dog from Spain.

My previous home had a street dog from India who also had lovely big ears and seems to also be the same general type of breed.

Bouncier, no, but cuddlier yes. She will often act kind of unconcerned when being cuddled, but when I stop she will poke me with her paw to go on. And once she turned up her belly to be petted. \o/

And I love all your plants, too; I don't know why it's such hardship for me to fill my house with plants, when I always appreciate them in other people's houses.

I didn't use to do much with house plants; that was my boyfriend's thing. But then when we split up I found I enjoyed puttering around with house plants, too, and they make the apartment feel more alive.

I always had a thing for huskies, and my family had dogs like setters and spaniels, which I like as well. But yeah, the sighthounds are winning me over, too. : )
